Brian Israel Named American College of Environmental Lawyers Fellow
Brian Israel, chair of Arnold & Porter’s Environmental Practice Group, was named a 2023 American College of Environmental Lawyers (ACOEL) fellow. Israel is one of 27 fellows being welcomed to the ACOEL in 2023. Those chosen as ACOEL fellows are “selected for their distinguished experience, high standards of practice, and substantial contributions to the field of environmental law.”
The ACOEL is a professional association of distinguished lawyers who practice in the field of environmental law. ACOEL members are “dedicated to maintaining and improving the ethical practice of environmental law, the administration of justice, and the development of environmental law through rigorous focus, outreach and education in all forums — federal, state, municipal, tribal and international.”
In addition to serving as chair of the firm’s Environmental Practice Group, Israel also is co-lead of the firm’s Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) working group. His practice focuses broadly on environmental litigation and counseling—including climate-related issues—and he is one of the nation's leading lawyers for Natural Resource Damages (NRD) claims. Over the course of his career, Israel has successfully resolved or litigated over one hundred environmental matters. Among other areas, Israel specializes in cases brought under federal and state environmental laws related to contaminated sites, including toxic tort lawsuits.
