Daily Journal Names Amar, Reis to 2025 ‘Top Labor & Employment Lawyers’ List
Arnold & Porter partners Dipanwita Deb Amar and David Reis were named to the Daily Journal's 2025 list of “Top Labor & Employment Lawyers.” The annual supplement profiles California's “top labor and employment attorneys specializing in litigation, PAGA matters, unlawful terminations, and workplace investigations.”
Daily Journal’s profile of Amar highlighted her victory in a noncompete and corporate raid case on behalf of an aesthetic and medical treatment device company, where she and her trial team won a $25 million verdict from a unanimous Boston jury. The article also explored how her early experience immigrating to the U.S. and learning English, along with her clerkship for U.S. District Judge Robert E. Coyle, helped her develop the ability to read people and write well – skills she now applies in high-stakes labor and employment law litigation.
Reis, chair of the firm’s Labor and Employment practice, was recognized for securing a published appellate decision that imposed new limits on Private Attorneys General Act claims, which required overcoming unfavorable precedent. His profile also highlighted his work on the traditional labor side, including negotiating contracts for a major Bay Area hospital with its two largest unions in 2023 and 2024, both reached without strikes, and his unconventional background to corporate legal work, shaped by his father's union membership and his own experience as a professional baseball player.
Amar and Reis have been consistently recognized as top labor and employment lawyers by the Daily Journal, with Amar being named 12 times since 2012 and Reis being named 15 times since 2010.
