Liability Protections Enacted for Pandemic, Epidemic, and Biosecurity Countermeasures

On December 22, 2005, Congress passed the "Department of Defense, Emergency Supplemental Appropriations to Address Hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico, and Pandemic Influenza Act, 2006." The Act provided $3.8 billion for pandemic flu preparedness activities as well as groundbreaking liability protections for manufacturers of pandemic, epidemic, and biosecurity countermeasures.
