Quality Supervision Authority Adopts Production License Control on More Industrial Products

On January 23, 2009, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine released the Announcement on Conducting Investigation on Industrial Products Without Production License (the "Announcement"), effective the same date. The Announcement, instead of listing all industrial products already subject to Production License, lists 14 new types of products that will become subject to Production License as of the effective date of the Announcement, including but not limited to certain copper tubes and hazardous chemicals. Manufacturing enterprises, including foreign-invested enterprises that produce any of these 14 new types of products and were not previously subject to Production License now must ensure compliance.
