Controlling Workflows in Matrix Organizations and Consequences With Special Respect to Labor Law

Workshop, Institute for Labor & Employment, Free University Berlin, Germany

Dr. Fritz's lecture, delivered at the Max Planck Society's Harnack House, explored the possibility of transferring "rights of instruction" within the framework of a matrix organizational structure to matrix managers who are not the representatives of the respective employment company. He stressed that such instruction encompasses more than just "dividing" the right to determine performance in the employment relationship to include the possibilities of instructions under company law and noted that this type of so-called instruction enforcement is common practice particularly in groups of affiliated companies.
