CPSC Interim Enforcement Policy for Metal Jewelry

Arnold & Porter Advisory

On February 3, 2005, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced an Interim Enforcement Policy for children’s metal jewelry containing lead. The policy explains how CPSC will exercise its authority to address the hazard posed by accessible lead in children’s jewelry; it does not amend CPSC’s ban on products with surface coatings containing more than .06% lead content by weight. See 16 C.F.R. § 1303.
