International Extradition: A Guide to US and International Practice

In this webinar, we discuss the current law and practice of international extradition. After presenting a general overview of extradition treaties—which form the legal basis for requests from one country to another for the return of persons suspected or convicted of crimes—we discuss how the extradition process works in practice, both in the United States and elsewhere, and explain the potential defenses. We then discuss several recent high-profile extradition cases and how they may depart from the normal course of extradition proceedings.
