Corporate & Finance partner Raul Herrera was featured in a recent article from Spanish-language magazine Vida Y Éxito on his international legal career that spans more than 25 years. The article highlights his work in Latin America, with a particular emphasis on his involvement in corporate and finance transactions in the region. Mr. Herrera cites his bilingual and bicultural childhood as key to fostering his interest in international affairs, giving him a "broad appreciation for the diversity of life and all the possibilities it offers."
Previously, Mr. Herrera served as the general counsel and legal manager of the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IDB Invest), the private sector multilateral financial institution affiliated with the Inter-American Development Bank. In 2017, he was appointed interim general counsel and legal director of the Green Climate Fund, a $19.7 billion equity fund based in Seoul, Korea dedicated to financing the effects of climate change and adaptation mechanisms internationally.
While discussing his experience at Arnold & Porter, Raul explained: "I have had an equally rewarding career, advising private clients on their financial transactions and development projects on the one hand, and advising sovereign countries on the other in strategic advisory matters as well as in disputes culminating in international arbitrations. This wide range of experiences has given me great professional satisfaction and has also allowed me to travel to more than 70 countries around the world."
