Senior International Policy Advisor and former U.S. Ambassador Barbara Leaf was recently quoted in the Bloomberg article, “Arab-Israel Normalization Faces Major Test After Qatar Attack,” which covers how changing sentiment toward the Israeli government’s actions, particularly following an airstrike in Qatar, may impact regional stability.

Ambassador Leaf noted that public opinion in the region is increasingly becoming a barrier to potential normalization.

“Two years of this has incinerated the tender shoots of public sentiment in some places that were at least amenable, maybe not enthusiastic, to their leadership’s [move toward normalization],” she said. “In the broader region, there’s complete rage".
