Kathleen Harris Assesses UK Enforcement Outlook with GIR on “The Lexology Podcast”

Kathleen Harris, Arnold & Porter White-Collar Defense & Investigations partner and head of the firm’s London office, appeared on “The Lexology Podcast” in an episode titled “Global Investigations Review: enforcement Q&A with Kathleen Harris and Jennifer Beidel,” to discuss global enforcement trends, sanctions compliance, and the handling of bribery allegations.

Kathleen explained that while UK enforcement figures appear to be down, new corporate offenses and higher sanctions penalties mean continued risk for businesses. “I actually think companies need to be even more vigilant and clear on the potential sanctions and economic crime exposure,” she said.

Regarding potential bribery, Kathleen emphasized that companies should start by establishing the facts before deciding which jurisdictions are affected or whether to self-report. “I really do think jurisdiction is the wrong question. The first question is: What is the problem here?” she said.
