The article explores the struggle many countries face when regulating hedge funds to "...strike a balance between investor protections and the benefits that hedge funds can bring to investors and markets." Mr. Firth commented on hedge fund regulation in the UK, where the Financial Services Authority "keeps a close eye on the prime brokers and managers to ensure that market risk and systematic risk are contained." He believes the requirement that UK hedge funds employ independent administrators to monitor their activities has been instrumental in keeping their industry free of scandal.
