Global Competition Review Honors Deborah Feinstein and Robert Pitofsky

February 2011 - On February 4, 2011, at its inaugural awards dinner, Global Competition Review (GCR) named Arnold & Porter antitrust partner Deborah Feinstein global "Lawyer of the Year" and honored counsel Robert Pitofsky with a "Lifetime Achievement Award." The GCR Awards 2011 recognizes the achievements of teams and individuals from private practice firms, academic organizations and competition authorities in 2010. 

Ms. Feinstein was selected as "Lawyer of the Year" among five finalists. The winners were decided by online vote. Members of the competition law community cast 1,500 responses to decide 2010's top mergers, litigations, agency work and outstanding individuals. Ms. Feinstein has advised clients on hundreds of transactions involving virtually all sectors of the economy and was a lead member of the team representing GE and NBC Universal in connection with the Comcast-NBCU joint venture, valued at $30 billion. She also advised Air Products in obtaining FTC clearance for its hostile takeover attempt of Airgas. 

Mr. Pitofsky was one of ten "Lifetime Achievement Award" recipients. According to GCR these are "ten of the world's leading antitrust lawyers" singled out "for their decades of outstanding contributions to the field of competition law and policy." In 2010, the Justice Department's Antitrust Division honored Mr. Pitofsky with the John Sherman Award, which recognizes lifetime contributions to the protection of American consumers and the preservation of economic liberty. He was the Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) from 1995-2001 and was FTC Commissioner from 1978-1981.
