Kaye Scholer Represents Private Equity Firm Teka Capital in Debut Latin American Fund

Kaye Scholer represented Teka Capital, a Private Equity firm dedicated to investments in Latin America, in the first close of its debut fund, with US$104 million in total capital commitments. The fund is will start deploying capital throughout the course of the year focusing on mid-size companies in Colombia and Brazil that have solid business fundamentals and significant potential for growth and value creation. The current investor base includes Colombia’s three largest pension funds, the Santo Domingo family of Colombia and other families from the region and Europe. The fund is looking to raise a similar amount from international LPs with the aim to hold a second close prior to the end of April 2011 and an additional close before the end of June 2011. The Kaye Scholer team included Stephen Koval, Timothy Spangler, Laurie Abramowitz and Patrick Michel.
