Arnold & Porter is One of the Founding Members of the Copyright Alliance Legal Advisory Board

August 10, 2011

Washington, DC, August 10, 2011 -- The Copyright Alliance announced yesterday that Arnold & Porter is one of 14 founding law firm members of a Legal Advisory Board established to foster closer collaboration with Alliance's institutional members and other copyright owners. The Copyright Alliance isa non-profit, non-partisan educational organization dedicated to the value of copyright as an agent for creativity, jobs and growth.

The Board will work with the Alliance and its membership to advance copyright strategy, and develop a variety of projects and programs, including providing assistance to individual artists and creators; hosting educational events and webinars; expanding work with law schools and young lawyers, and contributing writing and research.

"Arnold & Porter is pleased to be a founding member of the Alliance Legal Advisory Board," said Bob Garrett, a leading copyright lawyer in Arnold & Porter's IP practice. "Representing the sports, entertainment and software industries on copyright and antipiracy issues is among our firm's core strengths. We look forward to working with the Alliance to promote the cultural and economic benefits of copyright."

"This Board will be invaluable to the Copyright Alliance and its members," said Sandra Aistars, Copyright Alliance Executive Director. "The Alliance has actively developed grassroots, public and educational programs. Closer engagement with colleagues and thought leaders in the legal community will bring an important new perspective and talent pool to the Alliance, and allow us to serve the needs of the creative community better. I am particularly pleased that these firms are helping launch this initiative. They have been a trusted source of legal guidance for many in the copyright world for years and we value their expertise."
