Arnold & Porter International Arbitration Group Garners Global Arbitration Review Award for "Most Impressive" Law Firm

February 25, 2013

Washington, D.C., February 25, 2013 - At its annual awards dinner on February 21, the Global Arbitration Review (GAR) announced that Arnold & Porter LLP was the 2012 recipient of the prestigious GAR award for the "large international arbitration practice that impressed the most in the past year."  According to the publisher, Arnold & Porter attracted "significantly more votes" from its readers than any other firm.  GAR also ranked the Firm amongst the Top 30 law firms in the world in international arbitration, citing its "winning streak at ICSID," including the closely-watched Energy Charter Treaty case Electrabel v. Hungary.  The editors noted that they had counted at least 12 wins for the firm on behalf of its client states. Click here for a description of those matters. GAR also highlighted that last year Arnold & Porter helped EDF win more than US$200 million in an ICSID case against Argentina.

The GAR, which is based in London and is an affiliate of Legal Business Research, is one of the leading publications of the international arbitration community worldwide, and its annual awards as well as its law firm rankings are the most closely watched in the field.

This year's annual GAR awards dinner was held in Bogota, Colombia, and was attended by nearly 150 guests.
