Shanghai Managing Partner Yingxi Fu-Tomlinson Featured on Cover of The Asian Lawyer

January 2014

The Asian Lawyer’s January 2014 issue reported on the rise of Shanghai as a center of law and business to compete with established powerhouses in Asia such as Beijing and Hong Kong. Many multinational corporations have established their China headquarters in Shanghai, and as a result, many of the international law firms who represent them have settled in the city as well, to counsel these companies on their Chinese investments and operations.

According to Kaye Scholer Shanghai Office Managing Partner Yingxi Fu-Tomlinson, this is one reason why the city is a good fit for the firm. Kaye Scholer recently represented US-based clients Lutron Electronics Co. Inc. and The Hershey Company on major initiatives in the Chinese market. “Where we see ourselves is in the more substantive industry sector,” says Fu-Tomlinson.

Shanghai is also seen as a center where private enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta congregate to transact business with their Western counterparts, which is a noticeable growth area for Kaye Scholer Shanghai.
