John Fietkiewicz, Former Counsel to U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, Joins Arnold & Porter
NEW YORK, NY, May 14, 2018 — Arnold & Porter announced today that John M. Fietkiewicz, former Counsel to the United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey, has joined the firm as counsel. Mr. Fietkiewicz joins the White Collar and Complex Litigation practices, and will be resident in the New York office and Newark, New Jersey.
Mr. Fietkiewicz has more than three decades of experience handling all aspects of federal criminal prosecutions from the grand jury stage through trial or other resolution, focusing primarily on white collar matters such as securities fraud, corporate fraud, bank fraud, health care fraud, and official corruption, among others. As part of the executive team at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of New Jersey from 2010 until 2018, Mr. Fietkiewicz also supervised, and assisted the U.S. Attorney in supervising, all criminal and civil matters handled by the approximately 150 attorneys in the Office. During his tenure, he held a number of key positions, most recently as Counsel to former U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman, now a partner at Arnold & Porter. In that capacity, Mr. Fietkiewicz created, implemented, and managed an innovative office-wide criminal trial program through which he supervised all criminal trials, and provided advice to trial teams on legal and evidentiary issues, trial strategy and tactics, and more.
During his many years as a supervisor and Senior Litigation Counsel, Mr. Fietkiewicz also trained Assistant United States Attorneys on federal law and practice and advised and assisted them in their handling of cases. He has served as the U.S. Attorney's representative on the District Court's Lawyers' Advisory Committee and as principal advisor to the U.S. Attorney's Office on the Rules of Professional Conduct. He is a frequent lecturer and panelist on topics ranging from white collar prosecutions and federal trial practice to professional responsibility.
Mr. Fietkiewicz earned his JD from the Fordham University School of Law, cum laude, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Fordham Law Review. He received his BA, magna cum laude, from Montclair State College.
