Arnold & Porter Joins Top 10 on The American Lawyer's 2020 'Pro Bono Scorecard'

July 7, 2020

Arnold & Porter was named a top-10 firm on The American Lawyer's 2020 "Pro Bono Scorecard" for both national and international pro bono work. The report indicates that ranked firms contributed more than 5 million hours of pro bono work in 2019.

The "Pro Bono Scorecard" annually ranks Am Law 200 firms based on pro bono hours performed by their attorneys, along with the percentage of attorneys who performed more than 20 hours of pro bono work. Firms are scored separately for work performed by US attorneys and by attorneys outside the United States. In both rankings, Arnold & Porter was named a top-10 firm.

Arnold & Porter Chairman Richard M. Alexander said: "Our pro bono work is at the heart of who we are as a firm. Never has this work been more important or impactful. Our commitment to use the power of the law to protect the rights of others is unwavering. We will continue to devote the energy, passion and creativity of our lawyers to be leaders in the pro bono arena."

Arnold & Porter secured groundbreaking pro bono victories in 2019, including more than $2 million in compensatory and punitive damages for Planned Parenthood; a landmark state court victory in a North Carolina redistricting lawsuit; and an immigrant rights victory in the high-profile 2020 census case.
