Arnold & Porter and ACLU Secure Immigrant Rights Victory in 2020 Census Case

July 3, 2019

On July 2, 2019, Arnold & Porter, the American Civil Liberties Union, and the New York Civil Liberties Union secured a groundbreaking victory on behalf of immigration advocacy groups that challenged the United States government's attempt to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census. Following a defeat in the Supreme Court on June 27, 2019, the administration announced that they would print the 2020 censuses without the citizenship question.

The Arnold & Porter team includes Ada Añon, Andrew Bauer, Sam Callahan, John Freedman, David Gersch, Peter Grossi, Daniel Jacobson, R. Stanton Jones, Caroline Kelly, Christine Lao-Scott, Chase Raines, Eric Rubel, Elisabeth Theodore, David Weiner, Robert Weiner, Barbara Wootton, and Dylan Young.
