California Supreme Court Announces SeLegue as Next Chair of the State Bar of California

August 25, 2020

On August 24, 2020, the Supreme Court of California announced that San Francisco-based partner Sean SeLegue will be the next Chair of the State Bar of California, effective September 25.

SeLegue commented: "I'm honored and humbled to take on leadership of the State Bar during this challenging time. We have a full plate of work for the coming year, including administration of the first online California Bar Examination and ongoing efforts to close the justice gap and increase diversity in the profession."

SeLegue, a partner in the Appellate and Supreme Court group, has participated in the State Bar of California for more than two decades. He joined the State Bar's Committee on Professional Responsibility and Conduct in 1998 and later served as Vice-Chair (2002-2003), Chair (2003-2004) and Special Advisor (2004-2005). He then joined the State Bar's Commission for the Revision of the Rules of Professional Conduct in 2005 and was later elected to the Board of Trustees in 2016. In September 2019, the Supreme Court appointed SeLegue to an additional term on the board and as Vice-Chair of the Board.
