Álvaro Nistal Joins Arnold & Porter’s International Arbitration Practice in London

LONDON, June 28, 2021 — Arnold & Porter announced today that Álvaro Nistal has joined the firm’s International Arbitration practice group as Counsel, resident in London.
Paolo Di Rosa, head of Arnold & Porter’s global International Arbitration practice group, stated: “Álvaro is a talented lawyer with broad experience in investment arbitration and public international law. His arrival will enhance our platform by expanding the firm’s London roster, and by adding further depth to our bench of international arbitration and public international law practitioners.”
Mr. Nistal’s practice focuses on the representation of sovereign clients, international organizations and private sector entities in investment arbitrations (including ICSID, SCC, and UNCITRAL Rules proceedings), as well as other public international law proceedings (including State-to-State disputes, and proceedings before the International Court of Justice and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights). He also has experience in international trade matters. In terms of geographic expertise, Mr. Nistal has particular experience with matters relating to Latin America, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
Fluent in Spanish and French (in addition to English), Mr. Nistal is qualified to practice law in Spain and in England and Wales. He earned his LLM (Advanced) from Leiden University in The Netherlands and received both his LLB and BA from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in Spain.
