Managing IP Americas Awards 2022 Recognize Arnold & Porter’s Patent Litigation Capabilities

April 12, 2022

Arnold & Porter was named as “US Firm of the Year” in the areas of Patent Contentious and Appellate at the 2022 Managing IP Americas Awards. The 17th annual awards recognize firms, individuals and companies behind the "remarkable achievements and developments over the past year.”

The firm was named “US Firm of the Year” in both Patent Contentious and Appellate for another stellar year that featured multiple wins for high-profile clients including Hologic and Sanofi. These groundbreaking wins at the Federal Circuit and the US Supreme Court are just two examples of the excellence Arnold & Porter’s Intellectual Property practice displayed over the past year.

In Amgen Inc. v. Sanofi, Arnold & Porter earned an important win for Sanofi and Regeneron earlier this year before the Federal Circuit on the issue of the "enablement" of patent claims covering therapeutic antibodies. In Hologic v. Minerva, Arnold & Porter prevailed before the US Supreme Court on behalf of longtime client Hologic on the issue of "assignor estoppel," an equitable doctrine that prevents those who assign/sell patent rights from later challenging the validity of the rights they sold.

Both wins in Amgen Inc. v. Sanofi and Hologic v. Minerva were also honored as two of the ten matters that Managing IP named “Impact Case of the Year.”

Last month, Intellectual Property co-chair Matthew Wolf was recognized as East Coast “Intellectual Property Litigator of the Year” by Benchmark Litigation for his work for Hologic, as well as Sanofi and Regeneron.
