Boston Named Harold Baer Jr. Award Recipient by Network for Bar Leaders

May 27, 2022

Product Liability Litigation partner Sheila Boston was named the Harold Baer Jr. Award Recipient by the Network for Bar Leaders at the annual President’s Dinner and award reception. The award is named after the first President and founder of the Network, Judge Harold Baer, Jr. Judge Baer served as both a New York State judge and federal judge in the SDNY, and was a strong advocate of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The award bearing his name is given annually to a law professional who also strives to fight for advocacy of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

After receiving the award presented by Network President Eve Guillergan, Boston gave an inspiring speech urging others to use their voices and organization platforms to speak out against injustice and protect the rule of the law.

Boston has been a passionate advocate of diversity and inclusion her whole career. She has received several other awards for her efforts, including the inaugural Chambers law firm diversity, equity and inclusion award and the New York Law Journal’s 2014 Lifetime Achievement award. Appointed by the former New York Governor to serve on New York's First Department Judicial Screening Committee, Boston is finishing her second term in that capacity. Notably, last week Boston completed her two-year tenure serving as President of the 152 year-old New York City Bar Association, one of the oldest and most prestigious bar associations in the country; she was the first woman of color to serve in that position. In recognition of her service, Boston was on City & State New York’s Law Power 100 List in 2021 and 2022.
