Department of Defense Expands Defense Industrial Base Voluntary Cybersecurity Information Sharing Activities

The Department of Defense has opened its pilot cyber security information sharing program to all eligible Defense Industrial Base (DIB) companies.  An interim final rule sets forth new regulations for participating in DOD’s Voluntary DIB Cyber Security / Information Assurance (CS/IA) Program, including the optional DIB Enhanced Cybersecurity Services (DECS) component.  This advisory discusses the expanded program in further detail. The program is part of the U.S. government's increasing efforts to combat cyber threats to U.S. economic and national security interests, but creates both risks and opportunities for participating contractors.
