The stay-at-home orders in place as a result of the COVID-19 emergency have heightened the need for alternatives to in-person notarizations of documents as well as for reliance on electronic signatures. Since mid-March, both federal and state legislation has been proposed to meet this need and numerous state executive orders have been issued to address the immediacy of the need.
