New York, June 5, 2008 -- Arnold & Porter LLP announced today that David S. Berg has joined its New York office as counsel. He brings to Arnold & Porter significant public and private M&A experience, especially in the middle market.

“David has considerable experience in domestic and cross-border transactions, especially mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity investments and financings, and his experience complements the broad strengths of the firm’s corporate practice in our transatlantic offices,” said Michael B. Gerrard, head of Arnold & Porter’s New York office. “David is skilled at structuring transactions, negotiating and drafting agreements, providing strategic transactional advice and supervising deal teams. He is a valuable addition to our corporate practice, where his M&A and financing experience will augment our existing capabilities.”

Mr. Berg has experience in a variety of industries, including investment management, consumer finance, leasing, specialty finance, paper products, media and telecommunications and aviation. He has represented sellers as well as buyers. He has a JD from the New York University School of Law, and holds a BA from Brown University.

Arnold & Porter's New York office continues to expand. Last year, three partners joined the office: international corporate lawyer Juan Trujillo, whose practice focuses on a range of transactional matters throughout Latin America; Frederick Fucci, a transactional lawyer with significant experience in the energy sector and in cross-border corporate and commercial matters; and Louis Ederer, an experienced trial lawyer who has been involved in precedent-setting cases in the area of trademark and design mark protection. Earlier this year, Barri Bogner joined as counsel in the broker-dealer area.

The firm’s New York office has a skilled team of corporate and securities lawyers who work on corporate finance and other transactional matters, representing corporations, foreign governments, investment banking firms, and institutional and individual investors. New York's corporate and securities attorneys offer powerful transactional and litigation capabilities to clients in the city's financial arena. The New York office also hosts an ongoing "Regulatory Roundtable" series, where experts from across the firm as well as from the public and private sectors address topics of concern to New York-based clients.

Based in the US and London, Arnold & Porter’s corporate and securities team serves a wide variety of corporate clients, handling matters ranging from complex, high-profile mergers and acquisitions involving multinational FORTUNE 500 companies to vital business transactions for rising mid-market companies, start-ups, and entrepreneurs. Arnold & Porter also has one of the world’s most sophisticated and respected sovereign finance practices, handling multibillion dollar transactions throughout South America, Asia and the Middle East.
