Arnold & Porter Advises Kroger on $2.5 Billion Merger Agreement with Harris Teeter Supermarkets

Washington, D.C., July 9, 2013 -- Arnold & Porter served as lead counsel for The Kroger Co., the nation's leading grocery retailer, in its definitive merger agreement announced this morning to merge with North Carolina-based Harris Teeter Supermarkets, Inc. The cash for stock deal has an estimated value of $2.5 billion. The terms of the agreement were approved by the Boards of Directors of both companies. The merger is expected to close following the satisfaction of customary closing conditions including approval by Harris Teeter shareholders and regulatory approval.
