Pro Bono Team Advances CodeEd’s Comp Sci
Efforts for Coeds
Kaye Scholer provided pro bono legal assistance to CodeEd, a nonprofit organization that teaches computer science to middle-school girls in low-income communities. The firm assisted in drafting a template partnership agreement that CodeEd will use to expand its programs to other schools and youth organizations in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area.
CodeEd relies on its education partnerships in order to be able to supply the necessary computers and course offerings, taught by volunteer teachers, to inspire girls to pursue advanced study and careers in computer science and software engineering. Additionally, CodeEd seeks to decrease gender and socioeconomic gaps in computing.
The template agreement for CodeEd not only establishes the parties’ rights and obligations, but also addresses issues that CodeEd has encountered while engaging potential partners.
New York-based Corporate partner Christopher Peterson and associate Meital Dror worked on this matter, which was referred to the firm by Lawyers Alliance for New York.
