Arnold & Porter Wins Latin Lawyer's Private Equity Deal of the Year
On April 10, 2019, Arnold & Porter's work for Union Acquisition Corp. (UAC) in a share exchange agreement with Bioceres, Inc. (Bioceres) was named Private Equity Deal of the Year at Latin Lawyer's Deal of the Year Awards 2019. Arnold & Porter advised special purpose acquisition company UAC in connection with its entry into a definitive agreement to consummate a business combination with Bioceres, a Latin American agricultural biotech company and subsidiary of Bioceres S.A.
The thirteenth annual Deal of the Year awards celebrated "general counsel and law firms advising on the most significant deals of the year across Latin America."
The share exchange agreement involved Bioceres agreeing to contribute its agricultural solutions business in exchange for equity of UAC.
The Arnold & Porter team included Corporate & Finance partners Stephen Koval and Christopher Peterson, senior associate Marianna Shelenkova, and associate Marisa Silver. Stephen Koval is the co-head of the firm's Private Equity practice and Christopher Peterson is co-head of the firm's Capital Markets Transactions practice.
