Experience Highlights

  • Adobe in multiple patent, copyright and trade secret cases across several jurisdictions, including successfully defending Adobe in numerous patent matters across e-commerce platforms and systems, electronic signatures, real-time animation, and other technologies, as well as helping Adobe protect its IP rights against infringers.
  • Samsung in litigation against a university claiming infringement of multiple patents relating to the interface between humans and devices; the university asserted theft of the inventions (in addition to infringement) and sought hundreds of millions of dollars in damages. On the eve of trial, we prevailed on a novel issue of law and then prevailed in having the patent claims adjudicated to be unpatentable.
  • Intel in its $7.68 billion acquisition of security software firm McAfee; the transaction was cleared without a second request in the US and with Phase I commitments in the European Union.
  • Lutron Electronics Co. in many matters, including litigating claims in multiple US district courts that various defendants misappropriated trade secrets and infringed patents, copyrights and trademarks owned by Lutron; representing Lutron in court and administratively on product liability and consumer products matters; advising Lutron on corporate acquisitions; and counseling Lutron on commercial and advertising activities.
  • Yelp in successfully defending the company and three of its senior officers in a consolidated securities class action.
  • Global technology company in numerous trademark matters, providing enforcement strategy and counseling concerning software, hardware, advertising, and mobile/telecommunications products and services, and representation in multiple proceedings before the US Trademark Trial and Appeal Board pertaining to its most well-known brands.
  • Aperia Technologies Inc., a manufacturer of devices for commercial vehicles, in formation, numerous venture capital financings, strategic collaborations, and other general corporate matters.
  • Toyota Motor North America in its development of a hydrogen fuel cell electric heavy-duty truck that emits only water vapor and a pilot launch for drayage operations at the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles.
  • Fullpower Technologies, a developer of AI-powered sensing solutions, in its strategic collaborations with Serta Simmons and Tempur Sealy on a new smart-bed system; in a venture to bring the company's MotionX activity tracking and sleep monitoring technology to the Swiss watch industry; and in numerous other technology collaborations with Jawbone, Nike and others relating to an array of mobile applications, wearables, and other devices.
