Public Policy, National Security, Homeland Security, Trade Sanctions, Export Controls

Our Telecommunications, Internet & Media team includes practitioners who have critical government experience, experience advising both businesses and governments, and an in-depth understanding of the importance of secure and reliable communications. Working with our experienced national and homeland security team, we know the security imperatives of government agencies, as well as the legal, regulatory, and policy structures in this area and the complex processes by which programmatic priorities are established and regulatory, procurement, and funding decisions are made and executed. We work with our national and homeland security colleagues to provide telecommunications, media, and Internet clients with expert counsel on national and homeland security issues-including trade sanctions and export controls compliance-within the context of their strategic business objectives. We also draw on the experience of our colleagues in the legislative and public policy arena to assist clients in developing and implementing strategies to address matters before federal, state, and local legislative and administrative bodies.

Our team is made up of seasoned attorneys, many of whom have held senior positions in key U.S. government agencies, including as Member of the House Armed Services Committee and Ranking Member of the House Select Committee on Homeland Security, General Counsel of the Senate Armed Services Committee and of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), General Counsel of the National Security Agency, Deputy General Counsel of the CIA, Associate Deputy Attorney General, and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Export Controls.
