A 2023 recipient of the National Law Journal's Trailblazers award in IP for his recent win in a case involving a novel area of technology, Evan Rothstein is a trusted advisor to sophisticated companies all over the world. He maintains a robust commercial trial practice with a specific emphasis on intellectual property, guiding companies on the protection, enforcement, and development of intellectual property assets.

Evan has led teams to dozens of significant wins in front of juries, jurists, and administrative bodies. He is often sought after for his ability to distill complex subject matter into a relatable format. He works with clients on their most sensitive and important patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret cases, including those that never reach a courtroom. Evan is recognized for his devotion to client service and thoughtful, responsive, and relentless dedication to success. His strategic and business-focused approach to each engagement has earned him repeat work with some of the region's and nation's most discerning private and public companies. And, as one publication notes, Evan is "one of several top-flight trial lawyers at Arnold & Porter" who "litigates with aplomb in district courts."

He has experience across a broad range of technologies with a particular emphasis on media and advertising, gaming, financial services, the sharing economy, networking and telecommunications, and e-commerce. He is lauded for his ability to cut through legal and technical quagmires to find business-centric solutions for discerning clients. Beyond IP, Evan also handles select complex commercial disputes, particularly where clients seek creative approaches to solve contentious and often existential problems and in situations where a trial is likely to occur.

During the pandemic, Evan conceived of and launched Arnold & Porter’s first podcast called TMT Time, which focused on the high technology industry. He produced more than 70 episodes (generating thousands of downloads) across two years hosting high-profile guests to discuss pressing issues facing the marketplace. His guests included general counsels, founders and CEOs of unicorn start-ups and public companies, mental health professionals, best-selling authors, professors, and elected officials.

Evan received his J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School on a Seeman Scholarship, where he was a Rothgerber Fellow and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal on Telecommunications and High Technology Law (now the Colorado Technology Law Journal). He received his B.A. in Economics from Emory University.
