Sofía Jaramillo Cuartas

Sofía is both a civil and common law qualified lawyer with extensive experience in investment treaty and complex commercial arbitrations. She has represented both sovereign states and private entities in numerous proceedings under the ICC, ICSID, UNCITRAL, and LCIA rules. Her practice focuses on disputes involving technically complex and multifaceted issues, particularly in the construction, environmental, mining, and energy sectors, with a strong emphasis on Latin American jurisdictions.

Before joining Arnold & Porter, she was part of the arbitration and litigation team at one of Colombia’s leading law firms, where she worked on a broad range of domestic and international proceedings. She contributed significantly to arbitration matters and cases heard by all of Colombia’s high courts in sensitive public law, commercial, and constitutional disputes.

She later joined a well-recognized arbitration practice in Mexico, where she deepened her understanding of the Latin American legal and commercial environment and further developed her ability to navigate complex legal frameworks across jurisdictions. Sofia also has professional experience in France, adding to her international perspective and versatility.
