Roberto is a leading practitioner in international investment law and public international law, with over a decade of experience advising sovereign States and private entities on complex, high-stakes matters. His practice spans both contentious and non-contentious work, with a particular focus on investor-State arbitration. He has represented States in dozens of investor-State arbitrations under ICSID and UNCITRAL rules, as well as multiple proceedings before the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Roberto also brings extensive experience in major commercial arbitration, successfully acting for public and private clients in multi-million-dollar disputes.

Beyond arbitration, Roberto has advised on a broad spectrum of public international law issues, including treaty negotiations, investment restructuring, enforcement of arbitral awards, exploitation of natural resources in disputed areas, statehood, land and maritime delimitation, human rights, international humanitarian law, and sovereignty questions.

Roberto has acted for States including Barbados, Croatia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Egypt, El Salvador, Grenada, Nigeria, Peru, Serbia, Slovenia, and Uruguay in investor-State disputes. He has also advised Albania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Dominican Republic, Kenya and the United Arab Emirates on complex public international law matters. In recent years, Roberto has successfully represented investors—including multiple Fortune 500 companies—in multiple billion-dollar investor-State cases.

A frequent speaker at international conferences, Roberto regularly contributes to leading journals on public international law and arbitration. He is recognized in major legal directories, including as a “Thought Leader” by Lexology’s Arbitration Index, and praised by clients in Legal 500 as a “Rising Star” in international arbitration and public international law.

Roberto has multiple nationalities, reflecting his varied cultural background and global perspective. He is fluent in English, Spanish, and Italian.
