Arnold & Porter Advises General Electric on its Proposed Acquisition of Alstom

WASHINGTON, DC, LONDON and BRUSSELS, September 8, 2015 -- Arnold & Porter LLP lawyers in the United States and Europe advised General Electric on the antitrust aspects of its proposed acquisition of the power and grid businesses of Alstom SA. The transaction was approved today by the European Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice has filed a proposed consent decree that would permit the acquisition to close.

The Arnold & Porter team was led by Jonathan Gleklen in Washington, who represented GE in the United States, and Susan Hinchliffe in London, who represented GE before the European Commission and led the work on more than twenty merger filings worldwide. Brussels partners Axel Gutermuth and Niels Ersbøll, U.S. associates Matthew Shultz and Seth Wiener, and Brussels associates Tiiu Iverson and Erling Estellon also worked on the matter.
