Media and Intellectual Property Litigation Team Joins Arnold & Porter

NEW YORK, NY, February 5, 2018 — Arnold & Porter announced today that Dori A. Hanswirth and Theresa M. House have joined the firm as partners in the Intellectual Property group, resident in the New York office.

Ms. Hanswirth previously led the Digital Media practice at an Am Law 100 firm, where she practiced for more than 20 years. An experienced litigator, she has handled high-profile cases involving First Amendment, defamation, right of publicity, copyright, and trademark challenges on behalf of media and technology clients, as well as for clients in the entertainment, financial services, education, Internet services, social media, transportation, and telecommunications industries. Ms. House has particular experience in First Amendment and media law, litigation, the protection of trademark and copyright assets, and data privacy & cyber security. Ms. Hanswirth and Ms. House both handle subpoena defense in the context of reporters' shield laws.

The new partners join Arnold & Porter's global Media & Entertainment practice, which offers broad experience in resolving First Amendment, commercial, intellectual property, and regulatory disputes and counseling for traditional media and entertainment clients, as well as technology and digital media companies. The firm serves as counsel to sports leagues, motion picture studios, and broadcast and cable networks, among others, to protect intellectual property assets in cases before the federal courts, the Copyright Office, Copyright Royalty Board, the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, Federal Communications Commission, Patent and Trademark Office, Congress, and the World Intellectual Property Organization.

Ms. Hanswirth received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania and is a graduate of Cardozo Law School. Ms. House received both her undergraduate and law degrees from Harvard University.
