Yi Receives APABA-DC Community Appreciation Award for 2020

Financial Services partner Charles Yi was named a recipient of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of the Greater Washington D.C. area (APABA-DC) Community Appreciation Award for 2020.  Since 2012, the award has recognized individuals or organizations that have demonstrated strong support for the APABA-DC and its members.

Honorees will be celebrated at the APABA-DC’s 40th Anniversary Virtual Kickoff Celebration on December 10, 2020. The event will also celebrate the APABA-DC's four decades of service for its membership of Asian Pacific American legal professionals. The organization provides a variety of services, programs, and events of interest to its members and the Asian Pacific American community at large.

Yi served as General Counsel of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) from 2015 to 2019, where he had supervisory responsibility over FDIC enforcement and litigation activity and was involved in major banking policy initiatives, legislation, and the implementation of related rulemaking. He also served on the FDIC's fintech steering committee and established a fintech working group within the Legal Division. His previous government positions also include Staff Director and Chief Counsel of the Senate Banking Committee, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Banking and Finance at the Treasury Department, and Counsel on the House Financial Services Committee. Yi also served in the U.S. Army for five years as an Armored Cavalry officer.
