Brexit and Merger Control

Advisory

As the UK is leaving the European Union on 31 January 2020, we examine what that means for mergers that are currently under the European Commission's review or that will be announced in the coming weeks or months.

'Brexit day' on 31 January does not fully separate the UK from the EU. Instead, it marks the start of a transition period which lasts until the end of 2020. During that period the UK remains in the single market and continues to follow EU rules.
