Arnold & Porter Advises Silicon Valley Wearable Technology Company in Launch of New Smartwatch Platform
SAN FRANCISCO, March 2, 2015 -- Arnold & Porter LLP’s client Fullpower Technologies, Inc., an innovative Silicon Valley wearable technology company, recently announced that it has entered into a worldwide collaboration with Union Horlogere Holdings to bring Fullpower’s MotionX technology to the Swiss watch industry. A new Geneva-based joint venture, Manufacture Modules Technologies Sàrl (MMT), formed by Fullpower and Union Horlogere Holdings, has licensed schematic designs, firmware, smartphone applications, and cloud infrastructure from Fullpower. MMT offers a Horological Smartwatch solution based on Fullpower technology that enables watchmakers to integrate activity tracking, sleep monitoring, and other connected functionality into traditional-looking watches. Terms of the joint venture were not disclosed.
Arnold & Porter's multi-practice legal team advising Fullpower included attorneys from its San Francisco and Brussels offices. The firm’s regulatory and licensing team was led by Thomas Magnani and included David Hung. The formation and corporate structuring team was led by Stephanie Coutu, and included Ron Star and Ben Berk. Niels Ersbøll handled the joint venture's competition issues. Arnold & Porter also teamed with Walder Wyss on the Swiss legal aspects of the deal.
